In order to enhance morbidity surveillance at community level, MUCHAP at the Iganga Mayuge HDSS has initiated an electronic healthcare information management system at Busowobi Health Centre. The system uses an HDSS member unique identifier (given to every community member in the HDSS catchment area) to link their demographic data with their electronically captured health facility data about medical history, diagnosis, laboratory, prescribed medication, ante- and post natal data from ANC clinic and maternity, and vaccination.

The initiative will among other things provide real time and accurate information about treatment seeking behavior, monitor disease patterns, enhance pharmacovigilance, ease the monitoring of interventions at community level, monitoring progress of SDGs indicators, monitor universal health care indicators at household and community level.
