Research, Research Training and Data management support

Makerere University Center for Health and Population Research(MUCHAP)/Iganga-Mayuge HDSS has got a pool of trained technical personnel in different fields since it is affiliated to Makerere University. The research center has got Bio-statisticians, demographers, epidemiologist, Bio-medical scientists, social scientists among others most of whom are involved in research within the IMHDSS and beyond.

Several research studies have been implemented in IMHDSS which have not only been basis for academic advancement for researchers involved, but have had positive impact to the communities. Some of the studies summarized below;

Research Training and Opportunities for Graduate Research

In pursuit of objective 3, the center is used as a platform for research training by mainly researchers from Makerere University and collaborating universities in Europe and USA. Each year, about 4 Phd students, and 6 Masters level students conduct research at the center. The center also provides internship training opportunities to under-graduate students every year.
